From this peer review, I now have a better grasp on what is necessary to be revised in my essay. The first step, my goal. My goal is determine what is my thesis? Is my thesis strong enough, does this need to be revised, how strong is it, and is it clear? To achieve this goal, second step, I will reread my essay and annotate my own essay. I hope this will give me a better grasp on my essay and what areas need to be revised. Step three, what will be my biggest challenges? I can foresee that deciding how to rearrange, and strengthen my essay will pose as a challenge for me. Revising articles or essays have never been my forte, the thought of having to make revisions always seemed time consuming and tiring. In high school, when I would make revisions the end result would be a new paper, a new argument, and a new thesis. Which would be due to writer’s block, or an overwhelming fear of what to do with what I now have and how to improve my writing. Now I am provided with resources to overcome these fears which have seemed to provide obstacles in the past. In order to overcome these obstacles, I now can reference “The Little Seagull Handbook”, handouts given in class, as well as the internet in order to discover new ideas and new strategies to help improve my essay as well as my writing. One way that I can overcome an obstacle would be to go back to the text determine my thesis, write my claims, and thus provide examples for each claim. This strategy is a reverse outline, and would enable me to have all the information needed to write my essay at my disposal. I believe that “The Little Seagull Handbook” as well as this technique will be the best options for me in order to overcome these obstacles.
