Assumptions of Ethical Considerations for EBP

I believe the nurse’s role in ethics of research pertains primarily towards the informed consent and confidentiality role for studies which pertain to human subjects. That the nurse would ensure that informed consent was obtained, as a result the nurse would then assess the individual’s understanding of the study, their role in said study, and any risks that are applicable to the individual.

In regard to other various aspects of research, the nurse’s role might pertain to the information of the study itself. Ensuring that the other individuals who the nurse is collaborating with are following the ethical guidelines thoroughly. For instance, is the data collection being conducted ethically, and is the data accurate? I feel as though this may be an ethical role of a nurse, as no individual should turn away from what is ethically correct. Although this may not be the nurse’s role, it would still be the nurse’s responsibility to report these cases to the corresponding chain of individuals.
